  I'm truly sorry to hear that bad news sour grapes.

  That point in your last paragraph is a classic example of Orwellian 'doublethink'. When with believers at meeting 'yes Jah is gonna kill everyone out there!' But when conversing with the public 'oh we're not judges, we can't read the heart, there'll be millions in paradise who've never heard of jw's'. All the while they believe not telling the WHOLE truth is is a form of lying.

  Incidently I enjoyed you 1975 post some months back. It offered valuable insights into that period of the washtowl borganization's history.

  a very recent video of them shows them calling him a 'village idiot' and making other disparaging claims.

  Ceders is clearly arrogant, I've seen him on forums and he MUST have the last say. Evidence seems to suggest he probably makes money from his activism. But people of his abilities often are full of themselves and I don't care if he makes money from his activism. He has made it his profession and helped thousands wake up to ttatt. In my opinion he's doing an important work and there's a place for him and for Marc and for Cora and for Paul Grundy. We're no longer drones being coerced into a specific personality type, people will disagree more, this is the real world.

  Yep agree with sloppyjoe. It is a disgusting beast that has evolved into being. It exists in its current form because its prey\people are susceptible to the BITE model. The higher uppers are just as trapped as the rank and file. As you work your way up the ladder you are trained by the jw higher upper culture to become arrogent and haughty and sneer at the lower downers. The GB have gone through this system and would have made sacrifices in life to get where they are, they believed they had the truth and likely continue too. But the culture has trained them to become vile people- 'the ends justifies the means' mentality has twisted them morally into condoning horrendous things such as the covering up of child sexual abuse. They are believers but they should still be in prison.

  after spending 20 years in jail for attempted murder in a compton shooting - this week marco contreras was declared factually innocent and released.. for now, he said, he was looking forward to two things: good mexican food and april 11. he’s a jehovah’s witness, and that’s the day his denomination will remember the anniversary of jesus’ death.. .

  question: how many witnesses to the crime where there?.

  contreras’ attorneys say an eyewitness inaccurately identified him as the gunman, although he’d been at home sleeping at the time.

  It was new evidence that helped free him. Marco's brother Miguel was an accessory to the gas station robbery and was imprisoned for 18 months. It seems after all this time he decided to inform police of the shooter- Antonio Salgado, and recorded a conversation of Antonio admitting guilt.

  Emotionally very ill but can't face consequences of leaving

  i'm a new member so wanted to say 'hi'.

  i live in the u.k, was born in, fell away as an unbaptised publisher, got baptised in my 30s for reasons i'm retrospectively unsure of, and lost my faith about five years ago around the time of the original a.r.c.

  now, being unable to leave is making me physically, emotionally and mentally ill.. i'm not strong enough to da and live with the family consequences, and despite having several good friends outside the faith, none of them could support me in an active way as such.

  Hello Isambard and welcome, interesting name, I live not far from some of Brunel's handywork. Anyways, one option is cut the 2 hours per week to 1 and lie on your report slip. You may not feel comfortable with that but remember that you are dealing with a manipulative control group that is using undue influence ( fear, obligation and guilt) to hold you captive. Under these circumstances its not wrong to lie Isambard. The very best option however is to leave. Tell your parents you need a break from the meetings. Stop attending. Tell the elders you don't want to talk about it you just want a break, specifically ask them to respect your privacy. Don't give away any more information. That's what I did and I still see all my family. It may not be as sweet as before with family but the mental freedom you get when you leave this manipulative group...you couldn't put a price on it.

  Yep, more smash and grab. now that the Cong has paid off the loan it took out to buy that KH they've been kicked out to share another KH and all sale proceeds go straight to Borg HQ. Anyone not complying humbly with this arrangement are being disloyal to Jerhoover.

  it's funny as i reflect back on my days as a witness during the watchtower study.
